My first rental on RP’s NetFlix account (note the generosity) was “The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill,” a documentary about a St. Francis of Assisi of sorts, living jobless in San Francisco and caring for a flock of wild parrots that showed up in his neighborhood one day more than 10 years ago. It’s an ’80s film, which is reflected in the camera work and wardrobe, but it is also one of the funniest, sweetest, most endearing and insightful movies I’ve ever seen. You can’t go wrong with a nerdy bird documentary, I always say. =) Also: If a younger version of caretaker Mark Bittner exists? I would like to marry him. That is all.
